Introduction
Joshua Havens and Matt Fuqua are responsible for the formation of The Afters, a Christian rock band that was established in Dallas, Texas, in the United States. Before deciding to establish a band, both of them sang songs for customers at the Starbucks shop in Mesquite where they worked before deciding to go on their own and start a band.
Later on, local laborers Brad Wigg and Marc Dodd became members of the group, which was eventually given the moniker Blisse. They are well-known for their performances of songs including "I Will Fear No More," "Beautiful Love," "Light Up the Sky," "Lift Me Up," and "Never Going Back to OK," the latter of which was named the most played Christian song of 2008 by the Christian section of R&R magazine.
The song: Moments Like This
The Afters' fourth studio album, titled Life is Beautiful, was released one year ago, and "Moments Like This" may be found on that album. The band recently celebrated the success of their most recent track, titled "Every Good Thing," which reached number 1 on the charts. Their current single, titled "Broken Hallelujah," is currently following in their footsteps as it climbs the charts. They are now on tour with the five-time GRAMMY® winner Steven Curtis Chapman, who is currently playing their popular songs as part of his "The Glorious Unfolding Tour."
The Afters: biography
The band released six extended plays (EPs) in the year 2000 under the moniker Blisse. From there, they were able to save up enough money to record their debut album, When the World Is Wonderful, which was released independently in the year 2001. This CD includes tunes that were previously made available on the band's debut album, titled I Wish We All Could Win. In 2002, a DVD including live performances captured at a location in Dallas known as The Door was made available for purchase.
After learning that another band also went by the name "Blisse," the band decided to alter their moniker. They came up with the name The Afters for their band and kept playing in local bars in the Dallas region after that. They were brought to the attention of INO Records, which ultimately led to their signing for a four-track recording stint. After some time, the band obtained a contract with Epic Records, which enabled the label to begin marketing and distribution of their music.
I Wish We All Could Win was their first album published under a big label and it was released on February 22, 2005. Joshua Havens wrote the song "Beautiful Love" about a period when his wife was away from the country working on humanitarian relief projects. It was the first single released from the album. In 2005, The Afters were awarded the "Streaming Woodie" prize by MTV for the music video they created for the tune "Beautiful Love." In addition, "Beautiful Love" was chosen to serve as the theme song for the MTV show "8th and Ocean," which follows the daily lives of models who reside in Miami, Florida. The song was also included in the movie "Just My Luck," which came out in 2006.
