Moby's Extreme Ways is a pop icon from a very popular musician. Moby is recognized as the artist responsible for bringing EDM, electronic dance music , to mainstream audiences in the USA and in the UK. " Extreme Ways" is a very popular ringtone, as it is liked by not only Moby fans but by everyone who recognizes "Extreme Ways" as the famous theme song from the movie series about Jason Bourne, the secret agent. Just hearing the Jason Bourne theme song affects people just like older people love the 007 theme song as a ringtone!

Extreme ways is one of Moby's most famous songs. Moby fans know full well that Moby is just the guy to know about extreme ways!

Moby was born in Harlem, and had a pretty rough / wild life. Moby was nicknamed after the famous giant white whale of Herman Melville, who Moby claims as his great great great uncle. Moby got his nickname from his father, who died drunk driving when Moby was two. Moby's mom lived in squats with bands, and often relied on welfare and food stamps.

Moby started playing in hardcore punk rock bands when he was only nine years old. He played in a band called Vatican Commandos, and was actually the lead singer for the famous proto-punk group Flipper for a very short time. Moby did not turn to his success genre, EDM, until his early twenties, when he started being a DJ.
Moby fans will remember that Moby first tasted fame when he remixed his song "Go" using samples from the theme music from Twin Peaks.

In a circular fashion, "Extreme Ways" was used as the theme song for the first Bourne Identity movie. A different artist was supposed to be used for the next Jason Bourne movie, but the producers ended up using Extreme Ways yet again. This set the tradition, and every single Jason Bourne movie after that had a new remix of "Extreme Ways." One of the remixes even hit some Euro charts on it's own!

Personally, I love "Extreme Ways," but I also love Moby's hit singing about how we are all stardust. Even more than these songs, I always loved Moby as a crazy New Yorker. When Moby was working on his craft, making very very little money for years, he lived and worked in a semi abandoned loft in New York, where he did enjoy free electricity. Years later, when Moby had loads of money, he was famous for leaving all of his instruments and recording tools turned on and running all the time, 24/7./365. In interviews, he talked about how his electronics kind of had souls, and in any case he felt his keyboards, mixers, loopers, etc were definitely happier being left on all the time. Always loved Moby for that.

Some fans felt that Moby sold out a bit too much with his fifth album, Play, released on Virgin, when every song on it was licensed to films, tv shows, and/or ads. Extreme Ways was released as a single, right around the time that Moby was first breaking through, including playing his music at the closing ceremony of the Winter Olympics. Moby references Extreme Ways in his autobiography, talking about bags of drugs and having sex with strangers, not to mention how much he loves being a vegan, starting restaurants and working for animal rights. And the right of keyboards to stay plugged in and turned one, we reckon!
