David Bowie - Heroes (v2)

Bowie's second version of "Heroes" is a more stripped-down, less produced version than the one released as a single. It was recorded in Berlin in 1977, during the same session that produced Low and "Heroes," but it wasn't released until 1995 when it appeared on a Bowie compilation called Changesbowie.

Bowie wrote "Heroes" while living in West Berlin during the Cold War; he has said of how Berlin's situation affected him: "The wall was very influential on me visually. I felt very out of place there. It was a very strange period for me." He also described how he wanted to create an anthem for people struggling under Communist rule.

David Bowie - Heroes (1999 Remaster)

"Heroes" is a song by the English singer-songwriter David Bowie, co-produced with Tony Visconti and recorded in 1977 for his studio album of the same name.

The song was written by Bowie and Brian Eno immediately after they had finished recording Station to Station (1976). It was inspired by German reunification and the idea that there are still heroes around us, people who refuse to compromise their dreams even when they know they're not going to be rewarded for it. The lyrics tell of two lovers separated by a wall but whose love will eventually tear down even the most formidable barrier.

Bowie's original concept involved a track consisting almost entirely of sounds made from train parts and other industrial objects. Still, he eventually replaced this with an electronic backing track which included an oboe solo played by himself.

The song became one of several hits from "Heroes," topping charts worldwide, including France, Belgium, Canada, and Switzerland. It was also included in many critics' lists of top songs.

David Bowie - Heroes (Single Version)

"Heroes" is a song written by David Bowie, Brian Eno, and Carlos Alomar, produced by Bowie and Tony Visconti for the Berlin Trilogy album Heroes. It was released as a single in October 1977, backed with "V-2 Schneider".

The lyrics describe a couple separated by war who try to overcome their difficulties and reunite. The music is said to have been inspired by Kraftwerk's 1975 album Radioactivity.

A 7" single was also released in France (RCA PB 4325) with four tracks: "Heroes," "Helden" ("Heroes"), "V2 Schneider" (the German title of "Sons of the Silent Age"), and an instrumental version of "Helden." The instrumental track was on side one and had no indication that it was part of this release; it appeared on side two because it had no lyric sheet printed on its back cover; there were also blank corners where you could write your name.
